James Baldwin’s “If Beale Street Could Talk”  is a literary masterpiece. 

The story is told through the eyes of Tish, a 19-year-old in love and pregnant.   Her fiancee, who is in jail, faces an unbelievable injustice that happens too often to young black men.   

Baldwin’s brilliant way of exploring a kaleidoscope of emotions – love, affection, despair, and hope through these two characters are so alive it makes the story profoundly unforgettable.
